there is plenty of fanservice-y moments involving jack in the show, heck, the guy's clothes are torn off of him every other episode, but you can't have too much eye candy, now can you.

the time has come to confess my love for aku and his wacky eerie weirdness. i don't usually care much for the villains, but aku won me over being adorably grumpy and making hilarious faces one moment and turning vicious and truly terrifying the next. i only wish we had more great antagonists like this in fiction.

aku is legit scary in this one, up until a certain point. this episode may be the best one yet action-wise, i think.

This ideology of market-embedded morality and the responsible consumer is the most dangerous of all because it is not experienced as ideology.

The Ideology of the Ethical Consumption Gap.

aku sure knows his classics.

HERE'S JACKY!!!

i mean, shit, just take a moment to imagine aku sitting on a couch somewhere in his citadel, watching movies, eating popcorn. screaming and falling off the couch at jumpscares, ranting to himself about shitty plot twists, the works.
what if sometimes he gets lonely and forces some unfortunate stooge to watch movies with him? he gets frustrated with such company rather quickly, though, because the bots are far too stupid to discuss the plot or even understand any of it, really, and the humans are too busy shitting their pants to make scintillating conversation, so aku incinerates them on the spot and finishes the movie alone, his unsatisfied craving for company fading until next time.

giggled a lot when jack lost his shit completely when the lace on one of his geta snapped. i sure feel for the fella, even though i personally lose my patience over much smaller things and way more quickly.

if you still had any questions left about where deadpool's peculiar sense of humor cames from.
plus, this issue has really beautiful art, pencilled by jeff johnson, inked by panosian & milgrom and colored by sharen & tinsley.

at some point in cable comics, his friend irene gave nate this album as a present and told him that this song specifically reminds her of him. and i can see why: while it may be silly ("a man with a gun in his eye", seriously?) and overdramatic ("aaand liiike a sinner before the gaaates of heaven i'll come crawling on back tooo you"), you still can't help but love it for its drive and charisma. sound like anyone we know? :D

it's great to see that peter and felicia are becoming friends and partners again. they're both over each other, and all the old grudges are finally forgiven.

what's most notable about this ish, however, is a bonus little story about may parker written by j. m. dematteis. in it, may visits ben's grave to get some uneasy thoughts off her chest, and we get to learn more about her as a person as well as about her past. it's a little bit sad, a little bit funny, really sweet and very heartwarming.

damn it, marvel, what are you doing to my stupid heart?.. bonus: may, ben and baby peter under the cut.
