and that's about everything spidey gets up to in this issue. very life-changing indeed.

both issues serve the purpose of preparing the reader for the upcoming big crossover series, 'marvel super heroes secret wars', and both of them end in the exact same way: spidey finds himself inexplicably drawn to a huge alien-looking installment that appeared in the middle of central park and gets teleported god knows where. gee, what could the future hold in stock for our hero?

oooh, that must've stung. poor peter, this wasn't an easy decision for him.

this issue is hysterical, i really had to fight the urge to just post it here page by page, it was stronger than ever!
it features the daydreams of the main characters. felicia, the lighthead that she is, dreams of dispensing her own dubious shade of justice alongside spidey by 'recovering' important papers from a foreign embassy and handing them to a government agent.
it was really disturbing for me, as i first thought that some imposter is taking advantage of felicia's broken moral compass, absolute admiration for spidey and drugged state of mind to commit a crime. however, as soon as it was shown that this whole time she's been sitting on her butt on the hospital's floor, lost in her daydream, i giggled until my sides started hurting. plus, i couldn't help reading that 'but of course' line in spy's voice, which only added to my glee.
the next daydreamer would be no other than j. jonah jameson. surprise, surprise, his dream is clocking spider-man in the face, with said character then proceeding to admit that he's a crook and a menace. jonah's also imagining himself to look like a movie star for some reason (i like him just fine the way he is, honestly).

mary jane made her comeback recently; her dream is, of course, to be a widely known and beloved actress. is this how she perceives peter? really?..

spidey's daydream is triggered by seeing jjj uncharacteristically jog in the park. pete imagines a swarm of baddies to attack his favorite employer (which is actually not so far from reality); he then, of course, saves jonah's ungrateful butt for the hundredth time and is presented with the pulitzer prize for the pix he snapped of jonah apologizing and kissing the tip of spider-man's boot, when suddenly...

jolly jonah goes out of his way to prove to marla that despite his age, he's still a decent field journalist. he goes as far as pressuring the kingpin for information and breaking and entering to gain evidence; all of the while, spidey shadows him, making sure that our brave publisher makes it out alive and in one piece.

a bunch of bad guys took over a hospital and held some of its patients as hostages, with nathan lubensky, may parker's fiancee, among them. pete went in as spider-man and rescued the hostages, leaving his aunt to sit there alone and wallow in fear and worry by herself in the process.

the following are quotes from mgs2, more can be found here. otacon tried motivating snake by telling him chinese proverbs, the way mei ling did back in mgs1. she even made him a cheat sheet with all the meanings, but he managed to get them all wrong anyway, he's such a dork <3

Otacon: Oh, I figured you'd need a lot of motivation, so I came prepared. It's from 'The Three Musketeers' -- the book, not the candy bar. Anyway, it means that if you go up against everyone by yourself, they'll gang up on you too. I think. Since you're on your own on that ship, you need to take this to heart and avoid confrontations. How was that? Just like the old days, huh?
Snake: Almost reminds me of Mei Ling, but... You sure you got it right?
Otacon: Of course! And I'll teach you a lot more of these, you can count on it.
