a monkey stole my juicebox
life just won't give monty a break, will it? on the other hand, i'm glad that seeing him again made zoe realise that she's too good for these l,l&l jerks. she's so cool, she deserves much better than this. she packs a mean punch, she's energetic and hard working, and she has a lot of good in her, especially if she leaves her former employers' mindset behind along with the job. really, almost every time she shows up in the comic, we can see her internal conflict between aiming for a brilliant career in a company that thoroughly chews people and then spits them back out and being a decent human being.
as for monty, i must say he's one of my favorite supporting characters. he's small and fragile and utterly tragic, and he's still clinging to the remains of his hopes and dignity. he's very snobby (seriously, how can a guy who needs help hitting the head have such a long stick up his ass?) and has a sense of humor, which makes his unteractions with deadpool hilarious. i need more of this guy. i also need a college au fic where wade and monty are roommates, and wade's constantly being a jerk to him and pulling pranks on him, but is furiously protective of the guy if anyone else dares as much as look at him wrong. that's just how wade manages friendships, words 'friend' and 'punching bag' are interchangeable.
okay, while i'm rambling about ish 31 and supporting characters, i should also mention ilaney. she's one of my favprites, too, and the fact that she never reappears in further volumes makes me sad. there's a stark contrast between the way she is portrayed when she first appears as a gloomy recluse with a heavy weight on her conscience and the way she is throughout the comic book; she really needed the jolt deadpool gave her, shocking her into moving on with her life. she's just so eager and friendly, such an unlikely friend for someone like wade, and yet that's exactly what they are.
